Handwriting
I will continue to model the correct letter formation students learned in kindergarten and practiced in first grade. I will also encourage the children to do their personal best. Each letter should begin top to bottom. Letters NEVER begin at the bottom line. When discussing how to use the lines as a guide, I use the terms "ceiling" for the top line and "floor" for the bottom line. the dotted middle line I call the "midline" and if a letter such as lower case /g/ go below the line, I refers to it as, "in the basement". I also remind children of the correct pencil grip,. My goal is to ensure each child can correctly form printed letters before learning cursive writing.
